About Julia Marina

Julia Marina, Senior Associate at SW&M, brings more than a decade of experience working with global financial institutions and fintech companies, with deep expertise in securities law, contract negotiations, data privacy, and regulatory compliance. With her rare combination of industry know-how, Julia helps clients navigate the complexities of innovation, new technologies, third-party relationships, and rapidly evolving regulations with ease.

She counsels clients on financial services regulation and licensing, securities and investment advisory matters, commercial transactions, data governance, and compliance matters, drawing on her experience working with regulators such as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). She also advises on U.S. and international privacy laws, including the CCPA, GLBA, and GDPR while helping clients manage risk in an ever-evolving landscape.

Before joining SW&M, she served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for international fintech companies, where she built and scaled legal and compliance programs across the US, Latin America, and Europe. Julia is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and is fluent in English and Spanish.

Outside of work, Julia enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and two dogs. A self-proclaimed foodie, she loves traveling, reading, gardening, and exploring new restaurants wherever she goes.
